OPP speeding up
You know it, and I know it, that the goal of police officers is to serve and protect, which overall they do a great job. But I noticed recently that some police officers for reasons that I cannot understand is speeding and reckless driving. Most OPP officers and other police officers are courteous, serve and protect us and obey speeding on our roads, but recently while driving to work I see more officers not caring for a second about speeding or reckless driving.
About three weeks ago an SUV was tailgating my rear vehicule because I was not going above the posted speed limit. The roads were mostly covered with black ice so obviously I was being cautious. It seem the officer was not pleased with my speed so he decided to pass me up a hill on a straight line (which is illegal and dangerous, that’s the reason you don’t pass on a straight lane), while on the opposite side a vehicle was coming. So I had to slow down to let the SUV in since otherwise, an accident would of been caused.
Today while I was driving I saw a black undercover car comming the opposite way going at least 130km (and thats the minium, I actually think it was betwwen 140-150km) in a 80km. And for your info no, he did NOT have his emergency light on. Now if I was going at that speed I would be charged for racing, my license would be suspend with a big fine, and on top of that maybe some community service.
My article here is not to complain, but simply to make aware to the good OPP officers out there that some of them are risking their lives and other, which they are suppose to protect. If it is an emergency please put your emergency light on, even in the country side since their could be another driver trying to turn on that lane, or worse a child crossing the streets. The reason you have black cars is so that we can’t see you and that you can hide, which I understand. But please in an emergency put your lights on, and if it is not an emergency drive safe so no one gets hurt and everyone arrives home alive.
